The Robonomics parachain on Kusama has stopped

On September 28, 2026 the Robonomics parachain on Kusama (para ID 2048) produced its final block: #12,268,835, at 19:48 UTC. This is the last block the Kusama relay chain finalized for Robonomics (Paras.Heads(2048)), and no blocks have been produced since.

Kusama hosted the Robonomics R&D stage since 2021. Production has moved to Polkadot, and this closes the Kusama chapter.

How we stopped it

The first attempt was a team multisig call that removed the queued collator keys. The session validator set did go empty at the next rotation, but the block authoring set in Aura stayed as it was, so blocks kept coming. We then enacted a final runtime upgrade (spec version 49) through the same multisig. It took effect at block #12,268,835, which became the final one. The collators authored three more blocks on top of it (up to #12,268,838), but the relay chain never included them, so they are not part of the chain. Coretime on Kusama ran until September 22 and was not renewed.

The chain state at the final block stays as it is. A database archive of the parachain is available at snapshots.robonomics.network.

What happens to Kusama XRT

All XRT balances at the final block move to Polkadot with a +20% bonus. There is no buyback option on the Kusama side.

Why this differs from Ethereum: for XRT holders on Ethereum the move to Polkadot was a pivot. A lot changed for them, so they were offered a choice between migrating with a bonus and the buyback. For Kusama holders nothing changes except the step from R&D into production. The +20% is our thank-you for making it to production together.
